I could never have imagined that an overly dramatic and not so terrifying sci-fi movie from 1958, The Blob, could be based on real-time freaky science!
Yet a mysterious gelatinous substance, that has appeared sporadically on Earth since the 14th Century, has been fabled to come here from the passing stars and/or during meteor showers.
Whatever it is, it's kept scientists scratching their heads. (Pssst. They have shampoo for that itch!)
Don't believe it grows? Then throw some water on it! Opposite of shrieking: "I'm melting, melting, ohhhhh, what a world, what a world." The creepy green creature actually swells and becomes stronger!

No doubt the mystery scares the bejesus out of some otherwise reasonable people. Especially since UK scientists say the star slime does not seem to have any DNA while eye witness reports claim it looks very much "alive."Don't believe it grows? Then throw some water on it! STAR SNOT INSPIRES HORROR MOVIES
In addition to The Blob, this star mucus has inspired its sequel, "Beware The Blob" and subsequent films such as the 1988 remake of The Blob. (And many other similar movies where monsters evolve from the slime.)While the theme of that old film seems too awful to ever want to see a remake, the people-eating-goo did make it to the big screen again in 1988. This time, it was a lot more compelling to watch. Horrifying even.
Just watch these people get swallowed before they suffocate and have their limbs pulled off. (No really. It's creepy. You'll like it.)

According to this report - the space slime is actually just an unfertilized excretion from female frogs. (Yet logic from the same article would suggest frog menstruation would have traceable DNA in it. Yes? When scientists quoted in the same article say it's not there?)I also think the slimy stuff might prove that old fashioned green witches are real and they do catch colds. "Ah, ah, uhhh phlem!" (Bless them. Bless the witches all.)
Whatever the jello-like substance is, the star snot has baffled scientist in the United States, bewildered scientists in the UK, and befuddled experts in Britain just this last year.
