Science Now Copies Lady Bathory's Vampiric Baths With Bloody Facials

During the Elizabethan era, Countess Elizabeth Bathory, from Slovakia, earned notoriety by murdering young virgins and bathing in their blood.

As horrific as her crimes, science now seems to be embracing her vampire beliefs thanks to new discoveries that suggest how protoplasmic bodies found in blood really can regenerate a person's skin and make them look younger. Upscale cosmetics clinics began offering an alternative to Botox called Platelet Rich Plasma therapy (PRP) just recently (within the last couple of years).


HERE'S HOW THEY DO THE VAMPIRE FACIALS

They draw the blood from the patient's arm, spin it in a centrifuge to isolate the platelets. Then? They either use needles to poke holes all over your face or use a little pastry-roller-looking-thing that's studded with needles and they roll that across the face to perforate the skin. The PRP solution is then smeared across the puncture wounds and it seeps into the flesh like tattoo ink, rejuvenating the face.  The idea behind this new "technique" is that since Platelets are what cause the blood to clot - they aid the face in coagulation too.

It's all a theory, just like the one Elizabeth Bathory believed in. Some think the growth factors in blood thicken the skin’s outer dermis. That reduces wrinkles and may even give skin a rosey glow.

Unfortunately, cosmetic results have varied according to the quality of someone's blood and platelets. (Don't know of any virginal donors who are being asked to donate their platelets to wealthier mavens yet.)
